E-SHOP

Pork Chop Girl e-shop was born on August 8, 2005. A small vintage clothing collection, Pork Chop Girl is a carefully edited selection that strictly adheres to the aesthetic of youthful and modern. I strive to appeal to unconventional, quirky types who go their own way. Pork Chop Girl is for the lady who doesn't fit neatly into categories.

THRIFTING

I've been wearing vintage clothes for over 13 years, so I guess you could say I'm a pro at treasure-hunting. I source all merchandise myself and make a conscious effort to select only those items that are of good quality and are relevant to today's fashions. My favorite fabrics to buy are cotton, silk, and wool, in that order. I highly dislike 70s polyester, although I'm not against picking up a good-looking poly garment every now and then.

SEWING

I earned a degree in English, and am trying my best to avoid getting a job in that field. So, I turned to sewing. Always interested in making things, I've taken courses (and received A's!) to hone my skills in sewing construction and patternmaking. When it comes to technology, I like old everything: televisions, computers, cell phones, and especially sewing machines. I work on an all-metal Bernina from 1977. Sure, it takes me longer to get things done, but in the end, knowing that it was my own hand skills that produced something nice instead of simply pressing a button makes me happy. At the moment, I don't like sergers very much, although something tells me I'll change my mind in the near future.

OWNER

I live and work out of a small studio apartment just outside of Boston, Massachusetts.

Wong Kar-Wai movies, the band New Order, and the novel Lolita never cease to amaze me.

I'm the sort of person who, even after experiencing the real world, still holds onto naive ideals. I don't think this is a bad thing.
